Custom Software Development for Businesses of Every Size
Custom software is a tool built around the way your business actually works, instead of a subscription you bend your work to fit. For us that usually means a web application: software people open in a browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, with a database and a few back-end services behind it, connected to the systems you already pay for.
What custom software means here
It can be small. A screen that shows today's orders and who is waiting on whom. A price list only approved buyers can see. A signup that takes payment and sends the right confirmation.
It can also be large. A portal where a few thousand customers sign in and see their own records. An internal tool that pulls from your CRM, your accounting system and your warehouse and shows one true picture. An AI assistant built into an app your staff use every day, answering from your own documents.
We build both, with the same habits: a written first version, a fixed price before the build, and code that belongs to you.
Custom Software in about a minute
Who it is for, from small shops to large teams
- A founder who needs a first version real customers can use, without hiring a whole team.
- A small business running on one person's spreadsheet, where everyone else asks that person for answers.
- A growing company whose tools do not talk to each other, so people copy the same information between three systems.
- An operations team at a larger company that needs an internal tool IT has no time to build, built to IT's rules.
- Any business that went looking for software and found nothing that fits, or something that charges per seat far more than the problem is worth.
What we build
Internal tools and dashboards
When a spreadsheet is quietly running the business, we turn it into a proper tool: one place for jobs, orders, stock, cases or leads, with the right people allowed to change the right things. A dashboard on top shows the numbers someone checks every morning.
We built our own operations app this way. It brings clients, projects, money and each client's roadmap onto one screen, and it replaced a stack of documents and five browser tabs.
Client, partner and member portals
A place for your customers or partners to sign in, see their own information, book, upload, agree to terms, pay or check a status. For larger companies that sign-in can be the one your staff and partners already use, such as Microsoft or Google accounts.
We have built a membership signup where the customer must agree to the terms before checkout opens, and a weekly meal signup that emails each person a designed confirmation card and lets the team know. Both replaced forms and manual follow-ups.
Integrations and APIs
Your existing systems, connected so information moves on its own: Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Airtable and the databases behind them. When two systems have no built-in connection, we write the small service that sits between them, with logging so you can see every record that moved.
Custom CRM and databases
A CRM built around how you sell and what you track, or a database that finally holds the records your team keeps in folders. Searchable, shared with the people who need it, and exportable whenever you want it.
AI features inside your software
Search that understands a question instead of a keyword, a draft reply a person approves, a document summarized at the moment someone opens it. We add AI where it helps a specific job, with limits on what it can see and say. The AI agent development page covers assistants and agents in more depth.
First versions for founders
A minimum viable product, built narrow on purpose so real customers can use it and you can learn what to build next. If you already have an app that was put together quickly, including with AI coding tools, we can review it and tell you what it needs to be safe and stable.
App care and updates
Hosting, backups, monitoring, fixes and small changes after launch, so the software keeps up as your business changes.
Platforms and the right tech stack
We pick the stack that fits your team and your budget, not the one we like best. Most of our builds are TypeScript and React on the front, with Node.js, Python or serverless functions behind, and a database such as Postgres.
For larger companies we build inside your cloud:
- Microsoft Azure, including Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Entra ID sign-in and Azure AI services
- Google Cloud, including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL and Firestore
- AWS, including Lambda, RDS and S3
Our team has built and shipped work on all three, including AI agents and integrations for large enterprise teams under their security and data-handling rules. When your company already lives on Microsoft 365, we can also build on Power Platform, so your own staff can maintain the parts they want to.
How we build software
1. Discovery
We ask what the tool needs to do, who uses it, what it must connect to and what goes wrong today. We look at the real spreadsheet, the real form, the real process. For larger projects this includes your IT and security people, so the plan fits their rules from the start.
2. A written first version and a fixed price
We describe the smallest useful version in plain language: who signs in, what each person sees, what they can change and what happens next. You approve it. The statement of work (SOW) then gives you the scope, the timeline and a fixed price before we write any code. Anything beyond the first version goes on a list for later.
3. Build in short steps you can see
You get a working version you can click within the first weeks, not a mock-up. We use real or realistic data, so problems show up early. You see progress every week.
4. Test with the people who will use it
Customers or staff try it while we watch where they hesitate. Most changes at this stage are small and worth a lot.
5. Launch, hand over and support
The code, the database and the accounts are in your name. We write down how it runs and how to change it, and we stay on for fixes and new features through app care, or hand over to your own developers.
Ways to work with us
- One project. Discovery, then a fixed-price build from the SOW, then app care.
- An ongoing team. For companies with a steady list of work, we can run as your development team month to month, with a planned list of priorities.
- Extra senior hands. If you already have developers, our engineers can join your team for a set period on a specific piece, such as an integration or an AI feature.
Small jobs are welcome. Some of our favorite work is a single tool that gives one person back an afternoon a week.
What shapes the cost
Builds start at the price in the Pricing section of this page, and the range above that is wide. The main drivers:
- How many kinds of users there are, such as customers, staff and admins, each with their own permissions
- Payments and money handling, which add testing and care
- Integrations with other systems, especially older ones without a modern API
- Data moved in from spreadsheets or an old system
- Security and compliance requirements from your IT team or your industry
- AI features, which need testing against real examples before launch
Starting with one narrow first version lowers risk. You see the tool working before deciding how far to take it, and the fixed price in the SOW means the number you approve is the number you pay for that scope.
Security and ownership
For anything with sign-in, payments or customer data, we follow the same habits:
- Keys and secrets stay on the server, never in the page
- Every input is checked on the server, not only in the browser
- People only see what their role allows
- Forms are rate limited against spam and abuse
- Hosting runs under your account, on a commercial plan
- Dependencies are kept up to date and checked for known problems
You own the code, the database and the accounts. If we part ways, you take the software with you.
When you do not need custom software
We would rather say this up front. If an existing tool does what you need at a fair price, use it. Many bookings, stores and simple forms are handled well by products you can buy today. Custom software makes sense when your process is unusual enough that off-the-shelf tools fight you, when the subscription would cost more over a few years than building, when you need several systems to behave like one, or when the tool is part of what you sell. If none of that fits, we tell you which existing tool to try.
Web app or mobile app?
These are web apps. They open in a browser and can be saved to a phone's home screen. They do not live in the Apple App Store or Google Play. For most business tools that is an advantage: no store approval, no downloads and one version to maintain. If you need features only a store app can offer, such as heavy offline use or deep access to the phone's hardware, we say so and help you find the right developer.
Where we work
KORB is a studio in Logan, Utah. We meet in person with businesses in Cache Valley and around Utah, and work with companies anywhere in the United States over video, with shared code and weekly check-ins. You can always talk to the people building your software.
Tell us about the project
Describe what the software should do, who will use it and what it needs to connect to. Send a screenshot of the spreadsheet or the process if you have one. We will tell you whether custom software makes sense, what the first version would include and what discovery would cost.
Pricing
Every price we post is on one page. See all pricing.
Custom web app
A browser app that runs on any phone or computer. Paid discovery first, credited to the build, then a fixed-price build.
$750 discovery, builds from $6,000
Changes and custom work
Or a fixed quote when the scope is clear.
$95/hr
These are starting prices for standard builds. Every business is different, so before any work starts we write a statement of work (SOW) with your exact scope, timeline and price, which can come in lower or higher than these.
Questions people ask
Web applications that run in a browser, the back-end services behind them, and the connections between the systems a business already uses. That covers internal tools, client and partner portals, dashboards, custom CRMs, APIs and AI features inside an app.
Both. A three-person shop might need one small tool that replaces a spreadsheet. A company with hundreds of staff might need a portal that signs people in with their work accounts and talks to three other systems. The same senior people scope and build either one.
No. These are web apps. They work on a phone through the browser and can be saved to the home screen. If you need something in the App Store, we will say so and point you to the right kind of developer.
Discovery and builds have standard starting prices in the Pricing section of this page. The statement of work (SOW) we write after discovery sets the exact, fixed price for the build before any work starts, so the number does not drift while we build.
Yes. The code, the database and the cloud accounts are in your name, and the repository is yours from the first day.
Yes. We build on Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or AWS, inside your accounts and under your security rules, and we hand your team documentation they can run with.
Often, yes, including apps put together quickly with AI coding tools. We read the code first and tell you plainly whether to repair it, rebuild part of it or start over.
We build with sign-in, roles, server-side checks and secure hosting, and we keep secrets out of the code. We tell you what data the app stores, where it lives and who can see it.
