Google Ads Management for Utah Small Businesses
Google Ads is how a business pays to appear at the top of Google when someone searches for what it sells. A homeowner types "water heater repair near me," and the first results are ads. You pay when someone clicks, or in some cases when someone calls.
What Google Ads management is
It can bring in customers within days, which is why it appeals. It can also drain a budget quietly if nobody watches the keywords, the search terms, the landing page and the tracking. Managing the account is the job: choosing what to bid on, writing the ads, blocking waste, making sure calls and forms are counted, and telling you what each lead cost.
We manage Google Ads, Local Services Ads, and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads for small businesses. This page is about Google.
Google Ads Management in about a minute
Who it is for
- Local service businesses where one new customer is worth several hundred dollars or more: trades, home services, auto, legal and professional services, clinics, and installers.
- Businesses that need work now and cannot wait six months for search rankings to build.
- Businesses that tried the "boost" button or Google's automated setup and spent money with little to show.
- Seasonal businesses that need a push at a certain time.
Ads are a poor fit for very low-margin items, for businesses with no way to answer calls, or for a website that cannot be fixed. We say so when we see it.
What we set up and run
Account and tracking. An ads account in your name. Conversion tracking for phone calls from the ad, calls from the website, and form submissions. Without this, nobody knows what works.
Campaign structure. Search campaigns grouped by service, so a roofing ad sends people to the roofing page and not to a general homepage.
Keywords and negatives. The searches you want, and a growing list of searches you do not. Negative keywords stop you paying for "free," "jobs," "DIY," and other searches that never turn into customers.
Ad writing. Headlines and descriptions that match what people typed and say something specific about you: your area, your response time, your licensing, your guarantee.
Local Services Ads. For trades and home services, the Google Guaranteed or Google Screened listings that sit above regular ads and charge per lead. We help with the verification steps and manage the account.
Landing pages. If the page people land on is weak, we say so, and build a focused one. See our landing page service and conversion rate optimization.
Budget and bid control. You set the monthly cap. We set the daily spread and adjust.
A monthly report. Spend, clicks, calls, forms, cost per lead, and what we changed. In plain language.
How we start
1. Check before we spend. We look at your website, your Google Business Profile, how calls are handled, and what a new customer is worth to you. If a different step should come first, we tell you.
2. Agree on a budget and a goal. For example, "a monthly spend of X, aiming for calls that cost under Y." The numbers come from your business, not from us.
3. Build and launch small. A few tightly aimed campaigns, not fifty.
4. Watch closely for the first month. We read the actual search terms people used, block waste, rewrite ads that underperform, and move budget toward what brings calls.
5. Report and adjust monthly. Every change is written down with the reason.
What we will not do
- We will not promise a number of leads or a cost per lead before we have data.
- We will not let ad spend run without a cap.
- We will not hide the account from you. It is yours, you have admin access, and you can see everything.
- We will not use auto-generated "AI max" settings blindly. Google offers automated campaign types. We use the ones that help and watch them, since they can spend freely.
- We will not claim AI makes ads cheaper. Google's own automation does some of the bidding. We direct it and check it.
Search ads, Local Services Ads and Meta: which fits
Google Search ads show when someone types what you sell. They suit almost any local service. You choose the keywords, the area and the hours, and you pay per click.
Local Services Ads appear above regular search ads for trades and home services in many categories, with a badge after Google verifies your license, insurance and background. You pay per lead rather than per click, and your reviews matter a lot. They suit plumbers, electricians, locksmiths, cleaners and similar trades, where available.
Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram) show to people based on who they are, not what they typed. They suit products, events, promotions and brand awareness, and they work worse for urgent needs like a burst pipe. We use them when they fit and say so when they don't.
Retargeting shows a reminder to people who already visited your site. It is cheap and often useful once you have steady traffic.
We usually start with one channel, learn, and add a second only when the first is working.
How we build a search campaign, in detail
Match types. A keyword can match searches in three ways. Exact match shows your ad for that phrase and close variations of the same meaning. Phrase match shows it when the search includes the meaning of your phrase, with other words around it. Broad match shows it for searches loosely related to the keyword and gives Google the most freedom. For a small local budget we mostly start with exact and phrase, and use broad only with strong conversion data behind it.
Negative keywords. Words that stop your ad from showing, such as "jobs," "salary," "diy," "free," and competitor names we do not want. We add them from day one and then from the search terms report each week.
Ad groups and responsive search ads. One ad group per service, so the keywords, ad and landing page line up. A responsive search ad takes up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions and mixes them. We write varied lines that stay accurate and pin the ones that must always appear, such as the service and the area.
Location settings. We target people physically in your service area, not people merely interested in it, and exclude areas you do not serve. Radius targeting around a business address is available. Because we do not publish home addresses, we use named towns or zip codes instead.
Conversion tracking. In Google Ads we define conversions: a call from the ad itself (call extension or call-only ad), a call from the website (a tracked tap on the phone link), and a form submission. Tags are placed through Google Tag Manager, and we import key events from GA4. We test each by completing it ourselves and checking it appears. For calls over 60 seconds we can count them as a conversion, so a missed wrong number does not look like a lead.
Bidding. New campaigns start with manual or maximize-clicks bidding with a cap while data builds. After roughly 30 conversions in a month we may move to target cost per action, where Google adjusts bids toward a cost we set. Switching too early starves a small account.
Quality Score. Google rates how relevant your keyword, ad and landing page are. A higher score lowers your cost per click, which is why landing page match matters.
The numbers we watch
Clicks are the number that looks best and matters least. We watch:
- Cost per lead, meaning what you pay for each call or form.
- Lead quality, which you tell us. Were they the right jobs?
- Search terms, the actual phrases people typed, so we can block the wrong ones.
- Impression share, whether you are missing searches because the budget ran out.
- Landing page conversion, the share of ad visitors who call or fill out the form.
If cost per lead is too high, the fix is often the page or the offer, not the bid.
Where we are as a Google Ads manager
We are a small studio working toward Google Partner status, which requires Google Ads certifications for the person managing accounts and a track record of client ad spend. We are not a Partner today. What we bring is how we work: tracking set up first, a small start, every change explained, and a report written for an owner.
If you are a first ad client, you will get close attention, and a straight conversation about what to expect.
What it costs
There are two costs and they are kept separate.
Your ad spend goes to Google. You choose the amount. We help you pick a number that gives the campaigns room to learn without risking money you cannot afford.
Our management fee is the Ads management add-on on top of any monthly plan (see the plans). Larger accounts, many campaigns or several locations are scoped separately in the SOW. Call tracking, if you want it, costs a small amount a month and is passed through at cost. Landing page builds are priced separately unless included in your plan.
Timeline
Account setup and tracking take about a week. Campaigns can launch the week after you approve the ads and budget. Expect the first month to be a learning period. By the end of month two you should see a clear picture of what a call or a form costs for you.
Local angle
Utah markets are competitive in some trades and quiet in others, and costs vary a lot between a Salt Lake County search and a Cache Valley one. We target by real service area, such as Logan, Hyrum, Smithfield and Providence, or statewide, and we read the actual searches to see what people in your area ask for.
KORB is based in Logan, Utah, and works with clients across the state and the US.
Next step
Ask for a free website review. We will look at your site and your listing as a customer sees them from a Google ad, and tell you whether ads would pay off now or whether a fix should come first.

Questions people ask
Enough to get a useful amount of data. For most local businesses that starts at a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars a month, depending on your trade and how much a customer is worth to you. We help you set the number and you can change it any time.
Yes. Ad spend goes from your card to Google, in an account that you own. We never hold your ad money.
Ads management is an add-on on our [plans](/pricing), plus your ad spend. Larger accounts are scoped separately, and the statement of work (SOW) puts the number in writing before we start.
Not yet. We are working toward Google Partner status, which requires certifications and real client ad spend. We say it plainly because the badge should be earned. What we can show you today is how we plan, track and report.
Ads can produce clicks within days. Good results usually take a few weeks of adjusting, since the first settings are educated guesses.
No. Cost per lead depends on your market, your website and your offer. We estimate what is likely before you spend, and we report what actually happens.
Yes. Ads pay for visitors. If the page does not make it easy to call or book, you pay for visits that go nowhere. We check this before launching.
